Gillespie Marble & Granite Works is a family-owned and operated business that has been providing grave markers, custom granite, marble, and bronze memorials in the Upstate of South Carolina for over a century, beginning in 1897. We offer on-site engraving of death dates and monument cleaning as well as the sale and installation of monuments and bronze markers in all cemeteries.
John Thomas Gillespie (1873-1934) opened Gillespie Marble and Granite Works, Inc. on South Main Street in Downtown Greenville as the first generation owner in 1898.
John Thomas (J.T.) Gillespie, Jr. (1908-1989) became the second generation owner from 1934 until his retirement in 1973. During his time, in 1945, the business moved from the downtown location to the current location at 801 Laurens Road.
Gene Malcolm Gillespie (1928-2018) was the third generation owner of Gillespie Marble & Granite Works beginning in 1973. His son, Stephen Dale Gillespie (1949-2006), became the fourth generation owner. Gene continued to work alongside his son for many years.
The fifth generation and current owner of Gillespie Marble & Granite Works, Inc. is Kyle Montgomery Gillespie since 2006.
